3 Winners of PG&E PV Program

The winners are now formally announced from the recent 50MW PG&E PV Program IPP bidding a few months ago, and the results are as I had predicted. There are three winners of this auction and all three projects are at the ~20MW or greater than 12MW size.

The winners are Sharp-Recurrent, Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, and the first of several proposed projects by the Westlands Solar Farm group near the famous substation of Gates north of Bakersfield.

PG&E IPP Winners 2011

Of course it is noted that these winning bids were under the current 2009 MPR table rate for 20 year agreements, and that they are to be in operation within 18 months of final approval by the CPUC.

So once again hundreds of people showed up at the announcement of this program in February and had little idea of what the outcome was going to be.  When the RPS winners come out later this month and those winning bids are known, it will be more clear that the rate for these auctions is much under the posted MPR table rates.
