Present CAISO PV Cluster #5 Queue

I wanted to check on the present CAISO interconnection queue status for PV projects that were submitted in the Cluster #5 window.  This was the submission for the March 2012 Cluster #5  window.  These are for interconnection onto the CAISO controlled transmission line systems of SCE/PG&E/SDG&E.  Some additional 20MW projects, especially in SCE territory, would be on their WDAT interconnection queue as they have some lines at the 70Kv level designated as part of their distribution network.

As of the end of October my calculations were as follows:

  • 3.8GW of solar PV is still in the queue waiting for the phase 1 study results and the deposits needed then
  • 2.7GW of solar has already dropped out at this time

There are many developer/investor groups that would think these cluster #5 projects are too late for any reality until much after 2016, so it is still amazing to see so much still alive.
